If (Nancy) is open to it, you and your friends can contribute to the interpretation of the card.

A quick lesson on how to read the CMO cards

Each card shows a Coventry Candle, the blessing or affirmation on the label and five ways to interpret the card.  We put life into these five categories because everything life throws at you fall into one of these five points. If you get stuck, think of the situation with a question in mind.  For example; Is this about a relationship of any kind (for love)? Is this about my job, career, investment, new business idea (for prosperity)? Is this about my emotional, mental or physical health (for healing)?  Is this about my luck, security or safety in any way, including psychic or spiritual (for protection)? Is this about the quality of my personal energy, the energy of my space and the energy around my relationships or situation (for clearing)?

You can approach the card from two directions.

1. Ask about money, love or relationship, illness or health, protection or security, or clearing issue.  Clearing is for anything spiritual, mental, emotional or situational.
2. Bring the situation to the deck and after picking a card, assess what solution or guidance best fits it.  

When doing a three card spread you will assign a meaning to each card.

1. The first card is what you need to heal
2. Second card is what you need to clear
3. The third card is the blind spot and the magic you need to do (the action you take) to overcome it.

Power up positive energy & clear the negativity from your life

Remaining a victim gives the negative energy in your life an all you can eat ticket to your soul.   To step out of victim-hood you have to step into personal responsibility.   Be responsible for rest of your life and how the past defines you. No one said this was easy, no one said it doesn’t hurt and no one says that you won’t slip back into it from time to time, but you will empower yourself bit by bit if you continue to make that choice to be responsible for your present moment.

There are so many reasons why negativity takes hold and let me take a moment and validate you.   Life can really beat you down, continual stress can create a chemical imbalance that leads to depression, mental illness is often untreated and seen as a weakness, and the actions of others can destroy your life as you know it.   There are very valid reasons and we all have a pocket full of them.   They don’t feel like excuses, they feel huge, unwieldy and all encompassing. I cannot compare my darkest moments to yours and tell which one is better, it doesn’t matter because the light is equally blocked from our souls no matter the reason and it’s near impossible to see the way out.

Go ahead and look at it, pull up your courage and look deeply into your negativity. What is there? What are you afraid of that draws this negativity to you.   It is a fear and a belief that your ego is holding onto and drawing this negativity to you to protect you.   Ironic, your ego is trying to protect you from realizing a big fear, yet creating another type of pain in the end.   When you shine that light of courage onto this repeating negativity in your life you can be surprised at the truth.   Layer by layer you will light up your truth and find that core fear. It’s ok if the layers are thin, they will get deeper over time, but don’t stop with one because that is what your fear wants you to do. Your fear wants you to find a quick answer, put a band aid on it and forget you ever looked for it in the first place.     That is the mastery of fear, misdirection and negative events that distract you, it’s your job to master the art of light and truth.

Powering up your energy involves clearing away the negative triggers in your life. One-at-a-time.   Each little shift you make in transforming the negative energy in your life adds up, eventually leading to a drama free life. Anyone can make a tiny 10% shift in their energy, but eventually over time as these shifts become habits you find yourself at a 100% change. Small shifts that you can sustain, create a positive habit around and then when you are ready make another small shift.

Start today, right now, and ask yourself for two things that you are grateful for. Two real things that bring true gratitude. When you find those and wrap yourself in that energy set the intention that you will find two more things to feel grateful about today.   So tomorrow morning you will have 4 things to be grateful about. If you can start your day with 4 points of gratitude you are a changed person.

Here are four more practices that you can do to change your world into a positive one;

• Spend a compliment today.   Find at least one person to compliment, sincerely and deeply compliment them.   The positive energy that is build will compound between you.
• Stop yourself from saying something negative at least one time today.   Just one time, catch yourself and change it. If it’s about you, rewrite it into something positive. If it’s about someone else, get real with what fear that other person is triggering in you.  
• Smile. In a moment of stress, or better yet in a moment where you are about to give up, smile. I learned this from Yoga with Adrienne on YouTube.   When you are holding plank, sweating and ready to give up she reminds you to smile and breath out your resistance and all of a sudden you can do another 15 seconds of that hold.   So SMILE my friends in a moment of your deepest pain and the pain is lessened.
• Let go of accomplishments and grab onto contentment.   Although we may think that we are the most content when we just lay around in a warm bed on a cold day, but really we are most content when we meet our needs and the needs of those we love.   When you focus on accomplishments you will never measure up and you will always feel like a negative failure.   Let the to do list be re-written in your heart as things that will help you be content and you will find that positive push to accomplish it all.

As you practice these positive habits, help yourself release and clear the negativity you are replacing. It’s hard to hold the space all on your own so we have candles and oils to help you through it.

We all want to get the best candle for our money and we also want it to be a pleasant experience from first strike of the match to the last gasp of the flame.  We want them to smell good just sitting there on the table, which is called the cold throw. We also want the aroma to fill the room while the candle is burning. This is called the warm throw. To achieve this, the oil blend must be able to be release scent at room temperature and again during the burning process.  This is where chemistry comes in and an understanding of it will help us be more accepting of distasteful words like synthetic blends and chemical matches.

First, let’s look at natural essential oil. Essential oils are from the plant and they are natural.  They can be purchased uncut or in a concentrated form or cut with a binding agent or carrier. The less the essential oil is cut the more expensive it is.  We have to add the carrier or binder to the concentrated essential oil before adding it to the wax in a ratio of 1:1. This is a very expensive way to scent candles. For most manufactures, mass producing a candle in this way is cost prohibitive and the candle may only smell good while on the shelf, lose its scent after a few months and be a disappointment once it’s lit.  The biggest challenge candle makers face is the high volatility of essential oils. They evaporate at 72 degrees Fahrenheit. Most candles both soy and paraffin are poured between 130 and 175 degrees. All the scent is lost in the pouring process. Another challenge is, essential oils don’t blend well with each other without help from the lab. Additives are needed to stabilize them.

Working with large quantities of essential oils can be very dangerous to the candle maker.   We are required to wear respirators when mixing the oils. The bad news is that not all essential oils smell good when they are burning too.  It’s not just the synthetic oils that smell like a chemistry lab.

To get what we want, we need to co-create with nature

Synthetic oils were created out of the need for affordable oils with more versatility. Through technological advances, essential oils can be broken down to their basic atomic structures and recreated into synthetic oils using a process called chemical matching. They are chemically similar to the essential oils but much cheaper to produce and in many cases more stable.  Synthetic oils that duplicate the quality of essential oils so closely that you cannot tell the difference is called a certified natural. Meaning, it is produced in a lab through fermentation and enzyme reactions, and judged by a board to be identical to the natural counterpart. These synthetic oils are more expensive than lesser synthetics but still more affordable and available than natural essentials.  

Synthetic oils are called scent enhancers. They were designed to work with nature by stretching the performance of the oil beyond its capabilities.  In essence it gives the natural oil the ability to give us the cold and warm throw characteristics we demand of a quality candle. Synthetic oils blend better with each other and with natural essentials.  One scent can be created out of blending 100 different synthetic oils. Well blended oil is like a perfect chord in music. Three notes, one sound.

We all know that the cold throw sells the candle. What is happening here is that the oil is evaporating right off the surface of the candle at room temperature and we can smell them. The oils are volatile because their molecules are small, move fast and can escape the wax easily. We like that about them, they attract us and we react to them before we even see the candle. Now the candle has our attention. Once the candle is purchased, we anticipate that we will have the same experience while the candle is burning and our whole room will be saturated with the scent we adore. Those tiny molecules have done their job, but they are gone.

What will scent the air when the candle is burning?  The oil that sits in the candle as clouds, giving the candle that popular mottled look, is the long lasting non-volatile oil.  As these clouds come in contact with the flame the scent is released. It is released only once, so we have to wait until the next cloud come in contact with the flame for more scent to be released into the air.  These larger, slower molecules need heat from the flame to activate them so they can evaporate into the air. The warm throw is what makes a consumer come back to buy another candle, and this is why the most successful candles are made with blended oils.

When the blend contains the right combination of light and heavy oils the candle will consistently delight the consumer.  Scent enhancers or synthetic oils burn better than natural essential oils and perform better as a warm throw. We need the scent enhancers for that reason.  No one wants to burn a candle and just smell paraffin. Paraffin doesn’t smell very good and neither does soy. Beeswax is the only wax that has a pleasant scent on its own.

Typically flower and citrus scents are volatile or light oils and release first, while the heavier oils from resins, musk’s, sweet sugars and heavier fruits like coconut and peach are non-volatile and need heat to release them. Perfumers blend the two kinds of oils to satisfy our need for candles to smell good whether they’re burning and while they are not.

A candle can be made with 100 percent synthetic oils, but it’s not necessary and a little bit of Mother Nature goes a long way.  At Coventry, we combine the best of both science and nature to create a candle that works hard to please our customer. Power up your intent & find your motivation!

I have a question for you... Why is it you can meet some challenges and not others?   Why is it you can set two goals of equal value and urgency and one of them gets totally tossed away and underserved? This is a question I ask myself all the time. Actually, it seems to be one of the eternal questions….. Why do we do what we do, when we do?  

One reason is that in some challenges we set ourselves up to fail.   When that challenge is not in line with our personal “Why” our core sense motivation and identity we associate ourselves with we will block and sabotage it  

We all have a deep sense of self, of identity, of desires and passions and many of us have denied ourselves permission to live from that. So often we feel that our identity or destiny is complicated, deep and near impossible to manifest. We are taught that ego, or having a sense of self and boundaries are bad and greedy and to avoid allowing any tiny bit of narcissism to peek through layers of service and compromise that we cloak ourselves with. We are often told that to love yourself first is narcissistic yet if you don’t love yourself first you will never find your “Why”. Yet it is in that tiny bit of narcissism that we can find the ego, bring out its positive aspects and start living in alignment with our true passions.  

When you align with your personal “Why” you can start to act more instinctively, make decisions with less distress and really get your intentions and magic to line up with your purpose.   It’s like peddling fast while going downhill with the wind at your back – no resistance baby!   When you set your intent on something that your core self is NOT in alignment with you will fail, over and over again. Your core purpose, the mission of your ego, your instinct will stand in the way and you will not get your wish.   This is not to say give up, it is to say wake up!   Understand yourself better and deeper and then you know how to frame your intent so it fits with you. This also helps you get deeper with your wants and desire and fine tune them to your needs.

Have I scared you yet?   It can be a scary thing to actually find your core self and take the authority over your life.   What happens if you actually find your “Why” and that increases your personal power?   What happens if you accept that power and awakening? What happens when you realize parts of your life are not in alignment with your core self?   It’s ok, you change.   You change at a rate that makes sense for you to alter your life to create that place where your vision and passion can manifest.

You have created an amazing defense mechanism to hide your “Why” from yourself and to plow right into it can cause anxiety and confusion and lots of therapy.   An easier way to peel back the layers of defense that stand sentinel to your fears is to ask questions and answer them.   It is within the consistence of your answers that you will find that core why and core self.   You can do this on your own by writing out your answers or you can find a trusted friend who will let you ramble a bit, keep you on track and record your answers without comment.  You can also read the “Why Is That” section in the Coventry Magic book to get yourself started.

Let’s make this even easier and set up the energy in the room to help you release any resistance. What is the biggest challenge in your life?

What is the biggest frustration with that challenge?

What does happiness l mean to you?

What does being fulfilled mean to you?

What three things make your happy?

What are your favorite three things to do?

What is your biggest internal struggle?

What frustrates you the most about that struggle?

What is your biggest, scariest most outrageous goal?

What do you feel is missing from your life?

When you were a kid, what did you want to grow up to be?

What was your favorite pastime as a child?

Who influenced you the most in your life?

What was your favorite quality about them?

If money were no object, what would you do with your time?

Look at your answers, or have your friend review the answers with you and find the repeating theme in your words.   Was there a sentiment that you returned to over and over again? Was there a common frustration? If so what was at the core of that frustration and what is your desired outcome for that frustration?

Pull out those items and then start crafting your personal “Why”, your core identity and put it in a simple sentence.

(your passion) so that (catalyst) can happen.

For instance, my personal “Why” is; “I help awaken your personal power so you can take authority over your own life.”

A friend of mine has, “I help the unseen be seen and the unheard be heard to bring a balance to this world.”

Another friend had, “I find healing in every moment to show you it is possible to create the life that you want.”

Another friend is, “I create opportunity to show others they can be anything.”

Another is, “I want every client to go so much out joy of the experience that feeds them through their daily life.”

Most of these statements are from regular folks who just want to write a new ticket and create a life filled with experiences they choose.   They are simple, straight forward and clear. They give each person the power to say yes to what they want and more importantly say no to what distracts them from their core identity.    

It’s now your turn to take charge of your experience, write your own ticket, find out what you really want.   Enjoy the journey and remember, you bring your party with you wherever you go.
