A lot or perhaps nothing at all...
It seems to be our human nature to seek out ways to protect ourselves negative influences.  Good luck thought patterns and symbols of any kind are saturated in superstition and tied to the spirit and soul of man. Good Luck Symbols and rituals are material representations and outward demonstrations of our hopes, desires and dreams.
What brings this to mind, especially at this time of the year, is the shamrock or the four leaf clover.  Specifically, the four leaf clover is revered in Celtic Myth for it’s deep emerald color, expedient rebirth and vigorous growth. It’s believed that each leaf symbolizes a different lucky characteristic: 1) Fame, 2) Wealth, 3) Love, 4) health.
Good luck symbols are abound in many cultures and belief systems:  the hand, horseshoe, keys, coins, a star, skull, the number 7, the Buddha figure, a black cat, pig, dragonfly, rainbow, acorn and fish just to name a few.
There’s no harm at all in adopting a symbol, practice or ritual for attaining good luck as long as we realize and remember that the power is not in the symbol itself but rather, our “luck” is in focus we give to the symbol. The power is in the belief not the symbol.
Here at the Candle Wick shop we have a few candles and tools to help remind the mind of how lucky ones life can be.
Some of the candles that we carry that may help you along your path to luck are Dorothy Morrison’s Wicked Witchin’, Storm Cestavani’s , Tarot Magic, Wheel of fortune,  the Blessed Herbal,  LUCK Affirmation candle and the Motor City Hoo Doo Lucky 7 and our Shoyeido Japanese incense Hoyei-Koh or Eternal Treasure.
I’m sure you know the drill by now: you set the tone, name your intent, light the candle and let the magic (or your luck) begin.
Psssst…Wanna get lucky?
Do you believe that you’re a lucky person or someone who shouldn’t have gotten out of bed this morning?
According to Richard Wiseman, Psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire in England,
Another way that you can become more lucky is to be open to new experiences. Unlucky people are stuck in routines. When they see something new, they want no part of it. Lucky people always want something new. They're prepared to take risks and relaxed enough to see the opportunities in the first place.
With an open, optimistic and positive outlook, the following four principals can help create good luck and fortune in your life and career
1. Maximize Chance Opportunities
Lucky people are skilled at creating, noticing, and acting upon chance opportunities. They do this in various ways, which include building and maintaining a strong network, adopting a relaxed attitude to life, and being open to new experiences.
2. Listen to Your Lucky Hunches
Lucky people make effective decisions by listening to their intuition and gut feelings. They also take steps to actively boost their intuitive abilities -- for example, by meditating and clearing their mind of other thoughts.
3. Expect Good Fortune
Lucky people are certain that the future will be bright. Over time, that expectation becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy because it helps lucky people persist in the face of failure and positively shapes their interactions with other people.
4. Turn Bad Luck Into Good
Lucky people employ various psychological techniques to cope with, and even thrive upon, the ill fortune that comes their way. For example, they spontaneously imagine how things could have been worse, they don't dwell on the ill fortune, and they take control of the situation.
And remember, a rabbit’s foot in your pocket or lighting a candle couldn’t hurt either!
