Day of the Dead Candle

Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican celebration of their ancestors and has its roots deep in the Aztecs and other Meso-American civilization. The party can last for a few days or as long a month and is a time when dead relatives, both young and old, are allowed to return to the mortal world.

Instead of blood curdling shrieks, the people in Mexico welcome the spirits of their families with their favorite foods and libations. Tasty candies decorated like skulls and toys are brought for spirit children.  Altars are built, candles are lit to guide the loved ones home again and gravesites are cleaned and decorated. The whole family will gather in the graveyard or at home to pay respects, tell fond stories, sing songs and turn grief into acceptance.  Day of the Dead celebrations can be found in Mexico, Central America and parts of the United States.
Our Day of the Dead candle is the color of the marigold the honorary flower of the celebration and is perfect for paying homage to your ancestors.

Papa Gede
What better fella to be your spokes person at the crossroads of life than the first man who ever died. He waits there to take you to the afterlife as he is an intermediary between the living and the dead.  He’s a funny character with a wild sense of humor that can read minds and knows everything that happen in both worlds.  If you pray to him on behalf of a sick child Papa Gede will protect the little one and make sure it doesn’t suffer a premature death.
We made a candle to honor Papa Gede because he is so instrumental in helping our loved ones go to the afterlife peacefully.  Light this candle to in honor of Papa or to ask for  help in your hour of need.
