7.2017.HH.BLOGWhat defines a happy home? Is it a four walled structure with a roof and fine furnishings and an updated kitchen? Is it the art we hang on the walls, or the crafted diy projects some people enjoy to decorate with? I always wonder “who even has time for that stuff anyways?” BIG PROPS to those of you who do. My Pinterest board is full of ideas that I will probably never have time (or the energy) to create. Awesome organizational tips that sometimes are useful.

Generally, I have a pile of laundry on standby. There are usually dishes ready to pull from the dishwasher. Then there is the pile of mail I plan to sort through. SOMEDAY, right? No, my home isn't at all  pristine. It does not smell of apples and cinnamon. This house is well lived in and  loud at times, with silly laughter and sometimes tears. The house smells like dust, dog and mac and cheese.

There are moments I find myself feeling guilty. Guilty that I'm not more “pulled together.”  MANY mornings I might be in my PJs, sippin' on momma's go-go java juice, trying to roll up to the school.  Trying to be sure everyone makes it to class on time.  Even though we moved over a year ago, I've yet to hang up one family photo on the walls of my house. Why is that ? Do I not love my cubs with the fierceness of a Mama Lion? Of course, I do!! Do I not cherish the memories of the milestones of their childhoods? Again,YES! I spend  much of my time chauffeuring kids to practices, school and whatever social activities they have  going on.

After unending piles of laundry and other chores, I'm exhausted! Sound familiar ? I just do not have it in me to go through those boxes of memories right now. Let alone through my phone. Spending an entire Saturday afternoon at the Wal-Mart kiosk selecting pictures is not a priority. Not to mention the daunting task of choosing frames to display said pictures. Why? Because I direct all my greatest efforts towards fostering the best childhood for my kids, within my resources. We are busy, with the business of living! We are creating more memories and enjoying the one and only childhood they will ever get.

The greatest thing we can offer our family is ourselves. Our attention, time and just loving them. Invoke positive vibes into your home. Try to move through the moments when we overwhelm ourselves with what we can't do.  That may be a tall order for some. You might feel "where am I to unearth more to give?" Well, from a higher power by whatever name you call that. A well needed shift. A gentle push may remind us what all this is even for. Realign ourselves energetically. Replenish and support the treasury which all this love flows from.
