In April, we are turned toward the mirror and given the opportunity to face our personal negativity again and decide what we want to do with it.  It truly is a time for growth on many levels. This is all because the energy from the Sun in Aries illuminates our need to break free from the limitations of our wounded ego and begin our hero’s journey.  We do this through experiences rich with pain and suffering which ultimately make us truly unique and individual. So, the month of Aries is about new beginnings and starting over, but not in a way that is continuing the same old worn out ideas from the past, but on our own accord, with our own agenda, and where we become the hero of our own story.  That is the beauty of Aries energy.

To make this desire to burst forth as a new and improved version of yourself, do magic around letting go of the way you have been doing things and the way you see yourself.  Then move into spells that support and inspire new relationships, careers, improved habits in health and exercise.

Eventually we have to face our obstacles in life.

One way we can work with this creatively is to face our obstacles. Every heroic story usually has a monster that the hero has to contend with. In our personal lives our monsters are called bills, financial struggles, open enemies, hidden enemies, relationship woes, and family woes. All of these monsters can block our success or block our path.  When facing a block, light a Motor City Hoo Doo Road Opener candle or a Wicked Witch Mojo Outta My Way candle to keep your eyes on the road and not the monster.  Both candles come as oils too. Anoint yourself or an object with either for the same support.  

This is also not a month for heavy mental lifting. Our thoughts can be scattered and we can have difficulties focusing, especially on April 2nd. However, despite our challenges with our intellect, it’s a great month for creative work and doing anything artistic. The first part of April our intuition is more useful than our logic.  During the second half of the month, our ability to understand life will be fast and furious because Aries energy gets us flipping back and forth between several projects. This is a great time to do strategy sessions and make plans to achieve our goals. In business April is a good month for contract negotiations and team work.  The influence of Gemini will interfere with our ability to stay focused, so be mindful of oooo shiny reflexes pulling us away from the task at hand.

Romantic love, friendships and other relationships are tricky this month as they can be viewed unrealistically.  As a result it’s not the best time to become engaged, get married, or start a relationship. The rose colored glasses come off around April 20th and the pink fog lifts.  This is when bitterness can settle in once we realize the object of our affections are mortals rather than gods.  A little imagination and fantasy are great and helps to keep relationship connections flowing, yet it is not sustainable or the dark side of relationships tend to manifest. To keep your relationships grounded in reality, burn a Blessed Herbal Stability candle. It will keep your relationship out of the realm of fantasy or codependency and love addiction.

Over all April will be an interesting month of self-exploration and reevaluation of our priorities. It’s definitely a ‘Me’ month and a great opportunity to strengthen our character by overcoming our weaknesses.  Good luck to us all on the next chapter of our hero’s journey.
